What is a flotilla?
Flotilla is the sociable way to sail, enjoy the sea and sun and participate in an organised island hopping with other yachts. You have the freedom of skippering your own yacht during the day, but with the support of the lead crew with an experienced skipper and hostess, providing weather forecasts, guiding you on the best itinerary, helping you to moor up in the evenings and sorting out any queries you may have. You may hire a sailboat on bareboat, if one of the crew is a qualified skipper or if no skipper certificate is available you may hire a skipper for your flotilla holidays.
People choose flotilla sailing for a variety of reasons. It's popular with those who appreciate the support of the lead crew but also with those who have sailed many times before who enjoy the sociable side of a flotilla and the local knowledge and reassurance that the lead crew provide - useful if you are new to the cruising area. It's also popular with less experienced sailors, which have recently obtain their certificate and want to increase sailing hours.
