Ios Bay sailing approaches

Ios harbor is located on the west side of the island. The little rocky island Diakofto is stands out clearly on the west side of the entrance of the Ios bay. Care should be taken of the reef running south on the east side of the entrance of the bay, just 100 m from cape Xeres. When the meltemi is blowing, string gusts are coming into the bay.

The sea-bed is muddy with excellent holding. Mind the surge of the ferries, especially of the High speed catamarans. Keep good distance from the dock and keep your gangway higher from the dock when not in use.
