Essential Information for Your Sailing Charter in Greece

Planning a yacht charter in Greece? Here’s everything you need to know about embarkation, provisions, skipper requirements, and onboard support to ensure a smooth and unforgettable sailing experience.

Start & Finish Days and Times

  • Most charters begin and end on Saturdays. If you need different dates, let us know, and we’ll check availability.
  • Embarkation: 17:00 pm on the start date
  • Disembarkation: 09:00 am on the final day (return to base by sunset or 18:00 pm the day before)
  • Early Check-In Option: Available for an extra fee, allowing access to the yacht by 14:00 pm

Yacht Provisions, Water & Fuel

  • Your yacht is provided with full fuel and water tanks and must be returned the same way. Refueling services are available at your return station.
  •  Water: Refill regularly, as some smaller islands may have limited supply.
  •  Provisioning: Nearby supermarkets allow for on-arrival shopping, or we can arrange grocery delivery to your yacht.
  •  Linen: One set per person. Laundry services are available on larger islands.

Briefing, Check-In & Support

  • A full yacht briefing will be conducted before departure, covering equipment, safety procedures, and itinerary recommendations.
  • Briefings must be completed during daylight hours. Late arrivals will have check-in scheduled for the next morning.
  • 24/7 Technical Support: If you encounter any issues, our Base Manager and technical team are always available to assist.

What to Bring

  • Required Documents: Passport, booking confirmation, sailing certificate and a credit card for the refundable security deposit.
  • Packing Tips: Use soft bags (not hard suitcases), and bring sun protection (hats, sunglasses, sunscreen), wet weather gear, personal medications, and any preferred life jackets.

Bareboat Skipper Qualification

  • You must provide a valid skipper’s certificate from an international organization (e.g., RYA, ASA, IYT, MCA) or a national sailing authority.
  • Day Skipper or certificates with any kind of restriction may not be accepted by Greek Port Authorities, so send us a copy in advance to verify eligibility.
  • The original certificate must be with you during the charter.

Skippered charters

  • If you don’t have a license or want a more relaxed experience, you can hire a professional skipper.
  • Flexible Itinerary: Your route will be planned based on sailing distances and prevailing weather conditions.

Skipper & Hostess Responsibilities

  • Skipper: Responsible for navigation, mooring, anchoring, deck maintenance, refueling, and port formalities (expenses covered by the charterer).

  • Hostess: Handles daily shopping, prepares and serves breakfast plus lunch, assists the skipper, and maintains communal areas cleaned

 Both require their own cabin and meals provided by the charterer.
